How to be a Member
Membership to the Philippine Social Science Council is organizational. Admission to membership in the PSSC is either by invitation or application. An invitation is extended upon the recommendation of the Membership Committee and endorsed by the Board of Trustees. Social science institutions, organizations, centers or agencies can also apply for membership. They should comply with the membership requirements and must be endorsed by any of the PSSC regular or associate members.
Membership shall take effect upon the payment of the annual dues. New members are formally welcomed to the PSSC family during the PSSC General Membership in February.

To enjoy the above mentioned benefits, PSSC members must remain in good standing. The Membership Committee monitors the compliance of member-organizations on the following:
REGULAR MEMBERS: publish journals or similar learned publications once a year, hold at least one conference within the year, submission of the organizations’ year-end report of activities to PSSC every year, and conduct election of officers at least once every three years; and
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS: publish journals or similar learned publications once a year, hold at least one conference within the year, submission of the organizations’ year-end report of activities to PSSC every year.
Corresponding sanctions are imposed on the members who are remissed with these requirements.
Membership Application Procedure
A prospective member-organization must submit the following:
- expression of interest through a formal letter;
- endorsement by an existing PSSC member-organization (regular or associate) through a formal letter;
- supporting documents including
-
- profile and a short history of the organization,
- SEC registration and by-laws (for professional/national organizations),
- BOR resolution on the establishment of the institutions/centers (for school/university-based);
- copy of latest financial statement/report;
- copy of the latest annual report, and
- copy of the latest journal / official publication, or proof of knowledge, generation/dissemination activities.
The Membership Committee will review the eligibility of the organization and will recommend to the Board of Trustees (BOT) whether to accept the organization as a regular or associate member.
Deadline for submission of these requirements is September 30 of every year
- The Membership Committee will review the eligibility of the organization based on the submitted requirements. Afterwards, it will recommend to the Board of Trustees (BOT) whether or not to accept the organization as a regular or associate member. The BOT will have the final decision on the application.
- The Secretariat will issue a formal letter of acceptance to the eligible organization.
- The new organization/s will be formally welcomed to the PSSC family at the PSSC General Membership Meeting.
